Belgrade, Serbia, May 23, 2019 – On the final day of 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League action in Belgrade this week, the Netherlands defeated Korea 3-0.
Jamie Morison, head coach of the Dutch: “We are here with a young group of players, and every match counts for us. We used this to get familiar with each other, to practice, and now we are facing Brazil at home, so we are eager to continue our venture in this year’s VNL.”
Stefano Lavarini, head coach of Korea: “Over these three days we improved a little bit. Today we immediately got in trouble, and slowly raised our level of play afterwards, not like yesterday against Serbia when we played really well from the beginning. I liked today that we actually improved during the game. We will certainly use this VNL week as a pointer in which direction we should go in the future.”
Laura Dijkema, team captain of the Dutch: “We waited for this victory, and we are glad that we finally did it. It means a lot for these young players, psychologically. We will continue with our work and hope for the best.”
Su Ji Kim, team captain of Korea: “It was good experience for us. Now we have a European coach and we are trying to combine his vision with the Korean style of play, so I am pretty confident that we will grow as a team in each stage of the competition.”
