Belgrade, Serbia, May 21, 2019 – Turkey won its opening game in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League in straight sets against Korea.
Giovanni Guidetti, head coach of Turkey: “It is always good to start the competition with a victory, but we have to realize where we are and who we played against. Of course, I have to be satisfied with the result, but there are so many things that we need to work on.”
Stefano Lavarini, head coach of Korea: “We are together for only a week and we still need to improve a lot, especially in communication between ourselves on court. When we play against such a strong and physical team we need to attack early and we must work on our tactical game. After a disappointing first set, I think that we improved a lot in the second and the third one, so that’s something I can be satisfied with.”
Hande Baladin, receiver of Turkish team: “We are not extremely satisfied with our game but it is always good to start with a victory and earn all three points. We still need to improve a lot.”
Heejin Kim, opposite in Korean team: “The Turkish team was better in this match, no doubt. They were more confident, but I think that we showed some pretty nice resistance in the second and the third set, and that gives us hope for the future.”
