Apeldoorn, Netherlands, May 29, 2019 – Poland celebrated a victory against Brazil on the second day of 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League week 2 in Apeldoorn on Wednesday.
Agnieszka Kakolewska, Poland captain: “I think this was a really difficult game against a really great opponent, and we are so happy that we won. Last year we also beat Brazil, for the first time in almost 50 years, it’s a big thing for us. We are happy with this result but we know that the road in front of us is very long. Tomorrow we will play the Netherlands. They play at home, so this will also be a tough game. The Netherlands has a strong block-defence system, that’s their most important quality.”
José Roberto Guimarães, head coach of Brazil: “In the fifth set Poland played really strong, in reception, in attack, in counter-attack and block too. But I am satisfied with this match, because we have fought, it’s important for this new team to never give up. Poland is playing really strong since last year, and that’s good for volleyball.”
