Kortrijk, Belgium, June 6, 2019 – Poland defeated pool hosts Belgium in 2019 women’s FIVB Volleyball Nations League Pool 12 on Wednesday.

Poland coach Jacek Navrocki: “Today was a question of motivation. We delivered a better performance than yesterday. I know that some Belgian players with Polish roots were extra motivated to play against us. Probably too motivated. But be sure that I was interested to have them in my team, but the Belgian federation was quicker. Just as the Belgian team we are working with a new generation and I see them working hard. I agree that we have in the only 18-year-old Magdalena Stysiak perhaps a new ‘star’ in the Polish volley. She started for the first time in our selection, she followed the whole preparation and she is doing well. Let’s hope she can be part of a complete new talented team.”

Celine Van Gestel: “Our strong point is that we can fight the whole match, even if we are five points down. That is good. We also know that we have to improve in serving and defense, but we stay all the time focused. It was nice to play against Poland in the preparation of the European Championships in Lodz, where the supporters make it probably still more crazy than here in Kortrijk. We play every match to win, and we will do that same tomorrow against Serbia.”
