Apeldoorn, Netherlands, May 30, 2019 – Brazil claimed victory against Bulgaria in three sets in their final match in week 2 of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League in Apeldoorn on Thursday.
Gabriela Guimaraes, Brazil captain: “For me it’s very special to be a captain for the new generation. Our team is in transition, and I try to pass on my experience and take more responsibility. We have a lot to improve with this young team, and next week we will continue this process in the USA. The three points we earned today are very important in our race towards the finals. We woke up exhausted this morning after playing ten sets in two days, but we said to each other: let’s go and do this and go on the court with all our energy. I’m really satisfied with the attitude we showed today.”
Ivan Petkov, Bulgaria coach: “We are not feeling so good at the moment, but that’s normal if you lose six games in a row. For our young players this is a very good experience though. The upcoming three weeks will be very important for us, because our goal is to stay in the Volleyball Nations League. Against Poland and the Netherlands we played quite well. But today there was no belief that we could beat Brazil. I think we will play better volleyball in the upcoming weeks, and we can win not only one but more matches.”
