Conegliano, Italy, May 30, 2019 – Italy won the closing match of Pool 5 in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League against world champions Serbia in four sets.
Italy coach Davide Mazzanti: “The balance of the three days is certainly positive, the girls have behaved really well. Even in times of difficulty they remained concentrated on the game. I think they have shown a certain maturity and that makes me proud of them.
“We have a lot of work to do. We are in an enviable position in the standings that I would not have imagined at the beginning of the tournament.”
Italy player Monica De Gennaro: “The team was very good on the first weekend of VNL. We came here with some new entries and w juest kept doing it right. All this makes us aware that we are one of the strongest teams. We didn’t have much time to get ready so I think we can only improve.”
Serbia player Jelena Blagojevic: “We were expecting a tough game against the vice world champions. During the important moments we missed a few key balls. We’re a young team, I’m proud because I think we had a good game. We still have to work hard, learn and believe in ourselves.”
