Apeldoorn, Netherlands, May 28, 2019 – Brazil claimed a five-set victory 3-2 (21-25, 30-28, 25-20, 18-25, 15-11) against Pool 8 hosts the Netherlands in Apeldoorn on Tuesday.
José Roberto Guimarães, head coach Brazil: “In my opinion this was a very interesting match. The new generation for both teams showed themselves today. Both teams made many mistakes, but I think the spectators enjoyed watching this match and I’m excited for this. Tomorrow we will face Poland, they are playing very well right now. We will try our best against this opponent, like we did today.”
Laura Dijkema, captain of the Netherlands: “I think we can be happy with the point we earned today. We made a lot of direct mistakes. It would have been possible to win this match if we had played a little more clean. Last week in Serbia we were struggling to find the rhythm with our outside hitters, but today this went much better.”
