Perugia, Italy, June 12, 2019 – With victory against Korea 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 25-13) on Wednesday, Italy took top spot in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League ranking.
Anna Danesi, Italy: “We entered the field on the right foot, and we were good both at the block and in attacks but they gave us a hard time. Now we have to think about tomorrow because on paper it is the most difficult game in the pool. We must think only of ourselves and not of Russia, if we play as we know how, we will do well.”
Lucia Bosetti, Italy: “We know there is still a lot to do, many of us had a short period of rest, practically we never stopped and honestly it is not always easy to find the rhythm in such a long event. We know that the Olympic Qualification Tournament in Catania will be our main goal of the season, so we work with the intention of arriving at that weekend in the best possible condition. As for tonight’s game, we are aware that it was not our best performance, but it was important to win and we did.”
Davide Mazzanti, Italy: “Korea played a very good match in serves, we know that Korea is a good team in this fundamental. We are not happy with our match, but it was a very important win because we want to conquer the Final Six and it will be important, again, also to win our last match here in Perugia.”
Stefano Lavarini, Korea: “Our objective was to stay on the field as much as possible. Today the goal was to not give up and try to play as many actions as possible, find ways to make the point because at this level, even if we show a higher level of defence the problem is still get the points. We found some solutions in our hands with the block and at the moment this is what interests me. We come from a culture that favors the second line game and at this level, we do a little fatigue.”
