Conegliano, Italy, May 29, 2019 – On the second day of Pool 5 of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, reigning world champions Serbia were victorious against the Dominican Republic in four sets.
Serbia player Mina Popovic: “We’re happy with the win. We’re a younger team, yesterday was our first game. This team can do very well. It will be very difficult against Italy because they are a very strong team with players who played in the World Championship last year. We have to organise our game as best we can. The winner is whoever plays best.”
Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek: “We must improve especially in reception. What worked yesterday we didn’t manage to do today. That’s why we suffered a lot, we weren’t able to get out of this situation.”
Dominican Republic player Marte Frica: “We missed a lot of concentration today. We suffered on a lot of points especially at the beginning and end of the sets. We were not able to be effective.”
